Taxis from Kuwait International Airport reach the centre in around 30 minutes. Convenient with luggage, but they often do not use a meter, so agree the fare first at the official desk and expect a higher set rate late at night.
Careem and Uber operate at the airport, fix the price in the app and are usually cheaper and clearer than a taxi. You will need local data or airport wifi to book and meet the driver at the designated pickup point.
Public buses link the airport with the city for a very small fare, the cheapest option by far. They are slower and less convenient with heavy luggage, but reliable for budget travellers who are travelling light.
Ride-hailing apps are the easiest way to get around Kuwait City, with the fare fixed in advance and the route tracked. Coverage is good across the city and they remove any argument over price, ideal in a place where taxis rarely use a meter.
Orange-and-white and private taxis are plentiful but rarely metered, so always agree the price before setting off. Fine for short hops if you know the fair fare, but an app is usually cheaper and less hassle.
City buses run by KPTC and Citybus cover the capital cheaply and are used mainly by residents and workers. Routes and timetables can be hard to follow for visitors, and the heat makes waiting at stops tough in summer.
The cool season from November to March is by far the best time to visit, with pleasant, mild days, cooler evenings and the occasional rain shower, ideal for the Corniche, souqs and outdoor sights. Spring and autumn shoulder months are warm but manageable, while summer (roughly May to September) is extremely hot and often dusty, with daytime temperatures regularly soaring past 45C, so plan indoor activities and move around in the early morning or after dark.
Two full days are enough to see the Kuwait Towers, the Grand Mosque, Souq Al-Mubarakiya, Al Shaheed Park and the Scientific Center at a relaxed pace. Add a third day for a Failaka Island day trip or a slower wander through the museums and markets.

Kuwait uses the Kuwaiti dinar (KWD), the world's highest-valued currency, divided into 1,000 fils. Cards are widely accepted in malls, hotels and restaurants, but carry some cash for taxis, souq stalls and small cafes, and learn the coin values to avoid change confusion.
Kuwait is fairly conservative, so modest clothing covering shoulders and knees is respectful, particularly at mosques, markets and government buildings. Women are not required to cover their hair except inside mosques, where robes and scarves are provided, and beachwear should be kept to hotel or private beaches.
