نمای کلی

Marrakech is Morocco's most famous imperial city, a walled maze of ochre streets set against the distant snows of the Atlas mountains. Its beating heart is the medina, a UNESCO-listed old town of souks, palaces and hidden riads, ringed by rose-coloured ramparts. At its centre lies Jemaa el-Fna, a great square that…

The must-try local dishes, sweets and fruits — including the exotic ones you won't find back home.

Tagine

A slow-cooked stew of meat or vegetables with spices, dried fruit and olives, steamed for hours in its distinctive cone-shaped clay pot — Morocco's signature dish.

Drink

Moroccan Mint Tea

Green tea brewed with fresh mint and plenty of sugar, poured from height to froth it — offering and accepting a glass is the basic ritual of Moroccan hospitality.

Dish

Pastilla

A sweet-and-savoury pie of shredded meat (traditionally pigeon), almonds and cinnamon wrapped in crisp pastry and dusted with icing sugar — an unusual but beloved Moroccan combination.

Must-try

Babbouche (snail soup)

Small land snails simmered for hours in a herb-and-spice broth, sold from steaming cauldrons around Jemaa el-Fna — locals sip the aromatic broth alone as a traditional cold remedy.

Sweet

Chebakia

A flower-shaped sesame pastry fried until crisp and drenched in warm honey — Morocco's favourite sweet, especially during Ramadan evenings.

Fake guides in the medina

چگونه کار می‌کند: An unofficial 'guide' offers to show you around or lead you to a sight, then walks you to shops that pay commission and demands a large fee at the end.

چگونه از آن اجتناب کنیم: Use only licensed guides with an official badge, booked through your riad or a reputable agency. Politely decline unsolicited offers and say you know your way, even if you do not.

نحوه رسیدن
Petit taxi from the airport ٢٠ دقیقه‎$٧–١٥

The quickest link into town, as the airport is close to the medina. Insist on the meter or agree a fair fixed fare in advance, and avoid drivers quoting an inflated flat tourist price.

Airport shuttle bus ٤٠ دقیقه‎$٢–٥

A cheap public shuttle runs between the airport and central stops near the medina and Jemaa el-Fna. Slower and less direct than a taxi, but good value if you travel light.

Riad or hotel transfer ٢٠ دقیقه‎$١٠–٢٥

Many riads arrange a driver to meet you, which removes airport haggling and helps you find your accommodation in the maze of alleys. Confirm the price when booking.

جابه‌جایی در محل
Petit taxis‎$٢–٥

Small metered taxis for trips within the city, carrying up to three passengers. Ask for the meter, or agree a price first. Handy for reaching the new town, gardens or the station.

Walking the medina

The old city is a pedestrian maze best explored on foot. Wear comfortable shoes, watch for scooters in narrow lanes, and use an offline map, as signage is limited.

City busesرایگان – ‎$١

An inexpensive bus network links the medina with the new town and outer districts. Less convenient for first-time visitors than taxis, but very cheap for longer hops.

بهترین زمان برای بازدید

اسفند–اردیبهشت و مهر–آبان

Spring (March to May) and autumn (October to November) bring warm, comfortable days ideal for exploring the medina and gardens. Summer, especially July and August, can be extremely hot, often above 38C, while winter days are mild and pleasant with cool evenings.

ایمنی

احتیاطThe medina's alleys are a genuine maze with limited signage, and it is easy to get lost, which touts exploit. Download an offline map, note landmarks, and keep the name and a photo of your riad's location to hand.
احتیاطSummer heat can be intense with strong sun and little shade in open squares. Carry water, wear a hat and sunscreen, seek shade at midday, and save the souks and gardens for the cooler morning and evening hours.
احتیاطScooters and mopeds weave through the narrow medina lanes at speed. Stay to the side, listen for horns, keep children close, and be especially careful at busy junctions and after dark.

نکات پنهان

Watch the sunset over Jemaa el-Fna from a rooftop cafe as the square fills with smoke, music and lights.
Escape the crowds in the calm courtyards and painted ceilings of the Bahia Palace early in the morning.
Take a day trip toward the Atlas mountains or a palm-grove valley for a change of pace from the medina.

سوالات متداول

How many days should I spend in Marrakech?

Two to three days cover the medina, main palaces and gardens and an evening or two at Jemaa el-Fna. Add days if you want a hammam, a cooking class or a day trip to the mountains or desert.

Is bargaining expected in the souks?

Yes. In the souks the first price is a starting point, so bargain politely, begin well below it and be ready to walk away. Fixed-price shops and supermarkets do not haggle.

Do I need a guide for the medina?

Not essential, but a licensed guide can add history and deter touts on a first visit. Use only official badged guides booked through your riad or a reputable agency, and agree the route and price first.

How should I dress in Marrakech?

Morocco is relatively relaxed, but modest dress with covered shoulders and knees is respectful, especially in the medina and near mosques. Lightweight, breathable clothing suits the heat.

Is Marrakech safe for tourists?

It is generally safe, with the main issues being persistent touts, overcharging and getting lost rather than serious crime. Stay aware in crowds, agree prices in advance, and keep valuables secure.
