Fair prices in Lebanon — what things really cost

Use the official taxi desk inside the terminal and agree the fare before leaving. A trip to central Beirut is a fixed rate of roughly this range, not the higher figure touts quote as you exit arrivals.

App-based cars give a fixed, transparent price and avoid haggling. Short central hops are cheap; longer cross-town trips cost more in heavy traffic. The most predictable option for visitors.

A shared taxi that follows loose routes and picks up several passengers is the cheapest way around. Say 'service' and your destination through the window first, so the driver does not later charge a private fare.

A fresh za'atar or cheese flatbread from a neighbourhood bakery (furn) is the classic cheap breakfast. Buy where locals queue in the morning for the best and lowest price.
