A direct train between Malpensa Airport and central Milan (Cadorna or Centrale) in about fifty minutes, avoiding road traffic. The simplest and best-value link from the main international airport.
Linate, the close-in airport, is now linked to the centre by the M4 metro line in around fifteen minutes on a standard urban ticket. Fast and very cheap if you fly into Linate rather than Malpensa.
Licensed white taxis charge a single regulated flat fare between Malpensa and central Milan, with no meter. Best for groups or lots of luggage; use only the official rank and refuse touts inside the terminal.
Milan has a clean, efficient metro of several lines reaching the Duomo, the stations and most districts. Fast for longer hops, though the central sights around the Duomo are close together on foot.
A dense surface network of trams, some of them vintage, and buses fills the gaps the metro misses. Buy and validate a ticket before or on boarding, and watch your belongings on busy central routes.
