Da Nang International Airport is only about 3km from the centre, so a metered taxi into town or to My Khe Beach is quick and inexpensive. Use a reputable firm and insist on the meter rather than a flat quote.
Apps like Grab, Be and Xanh SM give a fixed upfront price from the airport and are usually cheaper than a taxi. Book in the app and meet the driver at the marked ride-hailing pickup point.
Many Da Nang hotels and resorts offer an airport pickup for a small fee or free with a booking. It is the easiest option on late arrivals and removes any airport-taxi haggling.
App motorbike rides are the cheapest and fastest way to cover the flat, spread-out city for solo travellers. The fare is fixed in the app and a helmet is provided.
Metered taxis and ride-hailing cars are cheap and handy for longer hops, the beach strip or in the rain. Apps fix the fare in advance; in a street taxi, use a known firm and the meter.
The Han River promenade, the Dragon Bridge area and the beach are pleasant on foot in the cooler hours. The city is flat and easy to walk, though distances between sights are large, so pair walking with short rides.

Summer (June to August) is hot and the peak beach season, while the wet season from September to December brings heavy rain and occasional typhoons, especially in October and November.

Da Nang makes an excellent, well-connected base with a big beach, modern comforts and its own sights, while Hoi An (about 30km south) and Hue (about two hours north) are easy day trips. Many travellers stay in Da Nang and visit both.
Da Nang is generally very safe, with little serious crime against visitors. The main things to manage are busy motorbike traffic, sea currents in the monsoon, and the usual overcharging by some taxis and no-menu seafood spots, all easily handled with apps and a little care.
