使用非接触式银行卡或手机刷卡进出，适用于所有GVB电车、公交和地铁。若一天多次乘坐，日票或多日票更划算。

从机场到阿姆斯特丹中央车站的直达火车不到二十分钟，远比出租车便宜。可在自动售票机购票，或在闸机处刷非接触式银行卡。

请在信誉良好的店铺租车，并务必事先询问车辆损坏或被盗时的处理方式，因为有些店会收取高额费用。使用店家提供的坚固车锁，并锁在固定车架上。

标准的定期班船看到的景色都差不多，无需为豪华团多花钱。可比较中央车站附近的几家运营商，避开兜售较贵行程的拉客者。

服务费已包含，无需强制小费，不过凑整付款很常见。远离水坝广场及最繁忙的广场用餐，能吃到更好的食物、价格也更合理。

远离市中心的传统“棕色咖啡馆”比主干道上的游客酒吧更便宜，气氛也更好。在最繁忙的区域点单前先看清价格。

请注意，阿姆斯特丹的“coffeeshop”是卖大麻的，普通咖啡馆或“koffie”才是喝真正咖啡的地方。全城价格都比较合理且相近。

The direct NS train from Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport to Rotterdam Centraal takes around 25 minutes on the fast intercity and is far cheaper and simpler than a taxi. Tap in and out with a contactless bank card (OVpay) or buy a ticket; the slower Sprinter is a little cheaper if you have time.

If you fly into Rotterdam's own small airport, RET bus 33 runs to Rotterdam Centraal for a normal city fare of about EUR 5.50 in roughly half an hour. Far cheaper than an airport taxi and perfectly easy with a contactless card.

Rotterdam's RET metro and trams are cheap and efficient. Just tap in and out with a contactless bank card or phone (OVpay), which is charged by distance from under a euro, or buy a 2-hour ticket (about EUR 5.50). A day ticket (about EUR 12) pays off if you ride a lot.

A coffee or cappuccino is around EUR 3 at a normal cafe, a little more in the trendiest design spots. Prices are reasonable and similar across the city, so you rarely need to hunt for value; step just off the main tourist squares if you want the local rate.

A snack-bar plate, a Markthal stall dish or a casual lunch is one of the best-value ways to eat, and Rotterdam's multicultural food scene (Surinamese, Turkish, Indonesian and more) offers excellent cheap eats away from the waterfront and the main squares.

A main course at a decent mid-range restaurant is reasonable for a Western European city, and service is included so tipping is optional (rounding up is normal). Eat a street or two back from the busiest riverside and centre spots for better food and prices.

A bottle of water is cheap from a supermarket or snack bar and much dearer if bought at a tourist kiosk or with a restaurant meal. Dutch tap water is clean and safe, so carry a refillable bottle and fill up for free rather than buying it.

For short hops a taxi or Uber is convenient but far dearer than the metro or tram. Use the official rank or a booking app rather than a driver touting for fares, and if you take a street taxi insist on the meter to avoid a long-routed, inflated fare.
