One of the world's top tandem paragliding spots, launching from Babadag mountain high above Oludeniz and gliding down over the Blue Lagoon to land near the beach. Flights run in the warmer months in suitable weather. Choose a licensed operator, confirm what is included, and expect a bumpy jeep ride up the mountain.
The postcard image of the coast: a sheltered turquoise lagoon and long spit of pale sand backed by mountains, about a 25-minute dolmus ride from Fethiye. The lagoon sits inside a protected nature park with a small entrance fee, while the open beach beside it is free. Go early in peak summer to beat the crowds and heat.
A steep, cliff-lined gorge with a white-sand beach reachable mainly by boat from Oludeniz, named for the butterflies that breed there. It is a protected nature reserve with a wild, low-key feel and simple facilities. Take a day boat trip, bring water and sun protection, and note the hike inland to the waterfall is rough underfoot.
One of Turkey's deepest canyons, about an hour from Fethiye, where you wade through icy meltwater between towering rock walls. There is a small park entrance fee, and many visitors come on a day tour often combined with Tlos ancient city. Wear grippy water shoes, as the riverbed is slippery, and expect the water to be cold even in summer.

In and around Fethiye it is a market and roadside staple, often griddled to order by local women at the weekly bazaars.
Buy it fresh off the griddle at a market stall; the cheese-and-spinach version is a classic, and a lemon-and-sugar one makes a sweet finish.

Order it fresh from the wood oven and try a kasarli (cheese) or kiymali (minced meat) pide; it is best eaten hot and shared.

Confirm the price per kilo before you buy, and eat in the early evening when the market and its restaurants are liveliest.

Shared minibuses and shuttle buses link Dalaman Airport with Fethiye, around 50 km away, in roughly an hour. Much cheaper than a taxi and frequent in the summer season, though you may wait for departures and share stops with other passengers.
A pre-booked car or minivan meets you at arrivals and takes you straight to your hotel for a fixed price. More expensive than the shuttle but cheaper and clearer than a rank taxi, and easiest with luggage, families or late-night flights.
Taxis wait outside Dalaman arrivals and go door to door, convenient but the priciest option for the 50 km trip. Agree the fare or confirm the meter before leaving, and expect to pay well above the dolmus or a pre-booked transfer.
The everyday way to get around, dolmus minibuses run set routes to Oludeniz, Calis, Kayakoy and the villages for a small flat fare. Flag one down, pay the driver, and call out when you want to stop. Cheap, frequent and easy once you know the route.
Metered taxis are handy for hills, luggage or late evenings around Fethiye and the resorts. Ask for the meter or use a taxi app to fix the fare, and carry small change. For short hops the dolmus is far cheaper.
Central Fethiye, the marina, old town and fish market are flat and easily walked, and the seafront promenade is a pleasant stroll. Comfortable shoes help for the climb up to the rock tombs, but the core is compact.
Late spring (April to June) and early autumn (September to October) are the finest times, with warm, dry days ideal for boat trips, walking the Lycian Way and sightseeing without the peak heat. July and August are hot, around 30 to 35C, and busy but perfect for beach days and the Blue Lagoon, while winter is mild, green and much quieter but wetter, with many tourist businesses closed.
Three to four days let you see the town, Oludeniz and the Blue Lagoon, a boat trip and one or two day trips such as Saklikent, Kayakoy or Tlos at a relaxed pace. Stay longer if you want to walk sections of the Lycian Way or spend real time on the beaches.
Dalaman Airport is about 50 km away, roughly an hour. The cheapest option is a shared dolmus or shuttle bus; a pre-booked private transfer is a good-value door-to-door choice, and an airport taxi is convenient but the most expensive.

Cards are widely accepted in hotels, restaurants and larger shops, but carry Turkish lira in cash for dolmus fares, market stalls, small cafes and site entrance fees. Keep small denominations handy, as change can be tight at busy stalls.
