概览

Munich is the capital of Bavaria and Germany's most self-confidently traditional big city, where lederhosen and world-class museums, Baroque churches and a booming tech economy all sit comfortably together. Its compact old town radiates from Marienplatz, where the neo-Gothic New Town Hall stages its famous…

Marienplatz and the Glockenspiel

Munich's central square, framed by the ornate New Town Hall. Its Glockenspiel carillon performs with dancing figures daily at 11am (and noon and 5pm in season). Free to watch; arrive a few minutes early for a spot in the square.

Neuschwanstein Castle day trip

The fairy-tale hilltop castle of King Ludwig II, about two hours south of Munich and doable as a long day trip by train or coach tour. Timed castle tickets sell out, so book online ahead; the priced band here is the castle admission only.

Englischer Garten

One of the world's largest urban parks, bigger than New York's Central Park, with meadows, beer gardens and a permanent standing wave where surfers ride the Eisbach river. Free and open all hours; a perfect afternoon on foot or by bike.

Munich Residenz

The former royal palace of the Bavarian monarchs, a huge complex of opulent state rooms, the Antiquarium hall and a treasury of crowns and jewels. Buy a combined ticket and allow a couple of hours; it is far quieter than the big churches.

Weisswurst

A pale Bavarian veal-and-pork sausage flavoured with parsley and lemon, traditionally eaten before noon with sweet mustard, a pretzel and a wheat beer. Locals peel off the skin rather than eat it, and old custom says a Weisswurst should never hear the midday church bells.

Brezn (Bavarian pretzel)DishFadkins / Wikimedia Commons (CC BY-SA 3.0)

Brezn (Bavarian pretzel)

The large, glossy soft pretzel with a dark lye crust and coarse salt is a Munich staple, eaten on its own, with Weisswurst or split and buttered. Fresh from a bakery in the morning it is chewy and warm; it is the edible symbol of Bavarian bread culture.

Schweinshaxe

A roasted pork knuckle with crackling-crisp skin and tender meat inside, usually served with potato dumplings and gravy. It is the hearty Bavarian centrepiece of a beer-hall meal and a heavier, roasted cousin of Berlin's boiled Eisbein.

Apfelstrudel

Thin pastry rolled around spiced apples, raisins and cinnamon, served warm with vanilla sauce, cream or ice cream. Shared across the old Habsburg and Bavarian lands, it is the classic Munich cafe dessert and a comforting end to a rich meal.

Helles

A pale, malty and gently hopped lager that is Munich's everyday beer, less bitter than a Pilsner and made by the city's famous breweries. Served cold in beer gardens and halls, it is the default local pour and pairs with almost any Bavarian dish.

交通与出行

真实票价,而非游客价。

如何到达
Airport S-Bahn 45分钟€13 - €17 · US$15-20

The S1 and S8 lines connect Munich Airport with the centre and Marienplatz in about 40 minutes, running every 10 to 20 minutes. The cheapest reliable link; the Airport-City-Day-Ticket is the best-value fare.

Airport Express bus 45分钟€12 - €16 · US$14-18

A coach runs between the airport and the Hauptbahnhof in around 45 minutes. Handy if you are staying near the station, though the S-Bahn is usually cheaper and unaffected by road traffic.

Airport taxi 45分钟€87 - €100 · US$100-115

Licensed taxis charge a published fixed rate of about EUR 96 to the Hauptbahnhof. Best only for groups, late arrivals or heavy luggage; use the official rank and confirm the fixed fare.

当地出行
U-Bahn€3 - €4 · US$4-5

Munich's clean, frequent underground reaches most sights and connects with the S-Bahn, trams and buses on one MVV ticket. Validate your ticket where required, as inspectors check without barriers.

Trams and buses€3 - €4 · US$4-5

An extensive tram and bus network complements the U-Bahn and reaches spots like Nymphenburg. All are covered by the same Zone M ticket, and trams are a scenic way to cross the centre.

Walking the old town

Munich's historic core around Marienplatz, the Viktualienmarkt and the Residenz is compact and largely pedestrian. Comfortable shoes and an unhurried pace are the best way to take it in.

最佳出行时间

五月–九月

Late spring to early autumn (May to September) is the sweet spot, with warm days, blossoming beer gardens and easy access to the Alps. Late September into early October brings Oktoberfest, which fills the city and hotels; December offers atmospheric Christmas markets, while deep winter is cold with Alpine snow nearby.

安全

注意Munich is very safe, but Oktoberfest and other big events draw huge, drinking crowds where pickpocketing, lost belongings and over-intoxication are the main risks. Pace yourself, mind your valuables, and agree a meeting point with your group in case phones die.
注意Cyclists move fast in dedicated bike lanes that often run along the pavement, marked in red. Look before crossing one and do not stand or walk in it, as riders come quickly and will not expect pedestrians there.

隐藏胜地

Watch the surfers ride the permanent Eisbach standing wave at the edge of the Englischer Garten, one of Munich's best free spectacles.
Climb St Peter's Church tower (Alter Peter) for the finest close-up view over Marienplatz and, on clear days, the Alps.
Skip the tourist beer halls for a leafy neighbourhood beer garden like the Augustiner-Keller, where you can bring your own food.

常见问题

How many days do I need in Munich?

Two to three days covers the old town, a museum or two and the Englischer Garten comfortably. Add a day if you want a Neuschwanstein or Alps trip, or to visit during Oktoberfest.

Is Munich a good base for Neuschwanstein?

Yes. The castle is about two hours south and makes a long but easy day trip by train via Fussen or on a guided coach tour. Book timed castle tickets online in advance, as they sell out.

How do I get from Munich Airport to the city?

The S1 and S8 S-Bahn lines reach the centre in about 40 minutes for a modest fare, and the Airport-City-Day-Ticket is best value. Taxis are far pricier at a fixed rate of about EUR 96 to the main station.

Is Munich expensive?

It is one of Germany's costlier cities for food, drink and hotels, and prices rise sharply during Oktoberfest. Public transport, markets and many parks are reasonable, so costs are manageable with a little planning.

When is Oktoberfest and should I plan around it?

Oktoberfest runs from mid-September to the first weekend of October. It is a huge draw but packs out the city and hotels at premium prices, so book far ahead or visit just before or after if you prefer quiet.
